Our office has combined the latest in physical therapy treatments, along with our state-of-the-art chiropractic care. Many rehabilitation and physical therapy centers focus on one individual part of the body. The problem with addressing only one part is that there are 637 muscles in the human body, and they're all inter-connected! It is important when trying to relieve back pain, neck pain and headaches that your doctor take a whole-body approach.
At the Zone Healing Center, we take a full-body approach. Each new patient is guided through an orthopedic and neurological exam and consultation. Once we determine that we can help, a specialized treatment plan will be put together for you. Our trained rehabilitation specialist guides our patients through their individual stretches and exercises. These stretches and exercises are expected to be done both inside and outside the office. That’s one of the secrets to our great success with headaches, low back pain, and neck pain.
Our physical therapy services include:
• Electric muscle stimulation - EMS, or electronic muscle stimulation, is a revolutionary muscle exercise concept. This therapy has been proven to safely and effectively remove pain by causing muscle contraction. Athletes all over the world have used EMS for athletic performance and safe, effective pain relief. The EMS unit has rubber pads that deliver a gentle, electronic impulse to the muscles. Each muscle responds by contracting and relaxing rhythmically as instructed by the unit. These contractions enable an individual to build, tone, and strengthen while reducing pain in a specific area. Our trained rehabilitation specialist will apply the EMS unit according to the current needs of each patient.
• Traction chairs - Traction chairs are specialized in helping to traction each area of the spine. So why is traction important to your spine? Each vertebra of the spine has a cushion called a disc, and each disc is filled with 70 to 80% fluid. When your spinal bones become misaligned, they don’t move well. The fluid within the discs can become stagnant, or worse-- the fluid can push out, as in herniated discs, balloon discs, and sequestered discs. The traction chair will move each individual vertebra, allowing fluid through to fill the discs. This ensures that each disc receives fresh, clean fluid. Healthy discs makes for a healthy spine.
• Exercise band stations - Over the years, we have observed patients coming from physical therapy and rehabilitation clinics who were given basic stretches and exercises that were not appropriate for that person’s needs. Over the last 10 years, we have perfected our exercise programs and have individualized them for each patient. We found that when patients understand how their body works--and have been given appropriate exercises and stretches--they are empowered with ability to prevent further and future injuries.
• Hydration/wobble chairs - One of the major causes of lower back pain is a weak core. The hydration/wobble chairs are designed to strengthen the weakest areas of the back, by improving core strength and hydrating the discs. By utilizing the hydration/wobble chair system many patients find that they have more stability when they’re walking, sitting, or standing. Many also feel their lower back pain reduce. This is a result of building a stronger overall core and rehydrating the discs in between the vertebra.
