Suffering From Neck Pain?
Many people have been in a Cherry Creek car accident or are experiencing whiplash and neck pain. Car crashes and injuries can be a very traumatic experience. Over the last 10 years we’ve had helped many patients who are experiencing neck pain in Cherry Creek, due to an auto accident or injury. The problem is that when someone’s in an accident they usually don't experience pain the same day due to the level of adrenaline that is running through your body. You see, pain is always the last thing to show up when you have been injured. That’s why it’s so important to have our Cherry Creek Chiropractors evaluate your neck and back immediately after any injury or accident.
Many of our patients who have been in a car crash went to the hospital, the hospital took x-rays and were given Vicodin, Percocet or other pain pills for help with pain management. However, 6 months to a year later this person is still having pain and taking even more pain pills. Now that is typically when we see them, they have come with pain from 6 months prior. Although we almost always are able to help someone, its one heck of a lot easier to treat the closer to the accident we see them. Our we educate our neck pain patients that pain pills only mask the pain and never correct underlying cause. Also, that the other problem that we see is the hospital took x-rays and the doctor specifically told them there’s nothing wrong, so they think there’s nothing wrong. Our clinic director experienced this first when I was in the military, he had numbness in his hands and severe neck pain and headaches he went to the medical doctor, who said what we can find anything. Now for most people that means that there must be nothing wrong, however that couldn’t be further from the truth. Pain is a warning sign that something is absolutely wrong, just because the doctor you went to, didn’t find the problem does not mean there is not a problem.
To understand this you must know that neck pain is caused by only a few things. First of all, if you’ve ever experienced a pulled neck muscle, you will notice it takes a week or 2, or 3 at the most to heal So if you’re experiencing neck pain for more than a couple weeks that means it’s most likely not muscular related. The only thing that causes reoccurring pain over the course of more than a couple days or even a couple weeks is typically nerve related. You see muscles heal very quickly. However, if you have an injury it can change the position of the spinal bones. Bones can ‘sit’ or ‘rest’ on nerves which carry vital information for your body to repair itself, this is called undetected nerve damage. When nerves are compressed or pinched, it can cause muscle spasms, muscle atrophy, and a heck of a lot of pain! Ouch!
So here is a question, why would the hospital tell someone that nothings wrong, why would the doctor look at an x-ray with a pinched nerve causing neck pain and say, we can’t find anything. Well it’s important to understand what the medical doctors are looking for, on an x-ray, when you go to the hospital. The main thing they’re looking for is cancer or broken bones. That means if you don't have cancer and your bones are not broken, guess what they will say…….. “there’s nothing wrong with you, we can’t find anything”. So at the ZONE HEALING CENTER, our Cherry Creek Colorado Chiropractic doctors will take a much different approach, we look for the underlying cause of your problem. We’ll do a full orthopedic and neurological exam which may include x-rays, a full nervous system diagnostic tests, and also the evaluation of your past health history. We will take the time to find what’s causing your problem, so you don’t live like so many other people on endless pain pills. On the same note, here is a TIP!!!! The best way to stay out of the surgeon’s office is to fix the underlying cause of the problem while its talking to you. You see if you patch up your symptoms with Advil, Tylenol, ibuprofen, Vicodin, Percocet or other pills, while having neck pain. You are actually blocking your bodies ability to tell you something is wrong. It was during those years that it was trying to tell you, “fix me”. However after several months or years of recurring neck pain, even the slightest tension, even if it’s once a month, that is your bodies way of telling you that you are causing damage.
